From Zero to Muay Thai Hero

The story of Mohd Irwan Noor Rashid is the perfect example of getting a second chance at life. The professional boxer led a gangster life previously, but for two years now, he has turned his life around. His shady past is behind him, and he has since ventured in to the hot waters of Muay Thai, and a hot Betway88 favorite to become the next big thing.

The 22-year old Mohd Irwan hails from Teluk Intan, Perak, and his quest to become an elite Muay Thai fighter is well on course. He is currently at Discover Muay Thai Academy in Jalan Alor undergoing rigorous training for upcoming fights. The academy was launched in 2015 specifically for delinquents and wayward youths who needed a chance to reform, and to become responsible citizens. It offers several programs for self-development, as well as Muay Thai training programs.

The prospects

Mohd Irwan joined Discover Muay Thai Academy in 2018, and so far he has won nine Muay Thai competitions held in Thailand and Malaysia. From all perspectives, the youngster looks like the brightest talent and the future of the Thai combat sport. Find out if these fights are available on www.betway88.com for a chance to bet.

In his teenage years, Irwan was rebellious, and never wanted to be controlled. He was arrested severally for bullying others and picking unnecessary fights, even before dropping out of school. At such a tender age, he has been locked up in police cells more than eight times for engaging in fights, even with his seniors.

He dropped out of secondary school in 2013 to join an illegal gang, where he got his first job as a guard at an entertainment hub in Teluk Intan. He opened up to say that he really necer cared about school, but he ensured that his parents were not aware of his criminal activities. His mother would later convince him to return to his studies, but even though he managed to sit for his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia exams in 2015, he was still deeply involved in criminal activities.

The opportunity

It was in 2018 when Irwan’s aunt asked him whether he would like to be registered at the Muay Thai training center in Kuala Lumpur, to which Irwan obliged. In his own words, joining the center was his best decision ever. He was not used to tight schedules, but at the academy, he had to adhere to a strict schedule starting at 6am in the morning, all the way to 11pm.

Initially, Irwan thought he had joined to learn Muay Thai alone, but he would later learn that discipline was the central aspect of the entire program. He was used to the free street fights where there were no rules, but pure shows of might and hooliganism. At Muay Thai academy, he learnt virtues that he had never known, including respect for opponents and the society. In the end, he was able to contain his temper, and the urge to pick up unnecessary fights also disappeared.

At the moment, Mohd Irwan is focusing solely on Muay Thai, and he is hoping to build a legacy as one of the greatest fighters in history. He turned a leaf at the right time, and he has many years ahead of him to erase his dull past. Betway88 will continue providing a platform for all sporting events, including boxing and martial arts.
